I’m a big believer in lifelong learning! And, learning comes from everywhere, as long as you can see the opportunity! Take this time to educate yourself about safe training techniques and how to put together a home workout plan. Then teach your children and family members about the importance of health & fitness, as well as all the other life skills that schools don’t always teach. This is especially important during these trying times! It can give everyone in the home a common, positive focus and a way to blow off some steam together.
This process can be mentally stimulating since it will push you to think out of the box! Don’t have a lot of equipment? Get creative! Fill a tide container with sand, put up a pull up bar ($14 dollar project) with a few items from home depo and/or do bodyweight workouts. Trust me, bodyweight workouts are no joke when done correctly!
Basically, you can learn ANYTHING! Heck, I’ll teach you everything you want to know, but YOU have to do the hard work & COMMIT! When people ask me how I find the motivation to stick to working out 5-6x’s a week, I tell them I make it non-negotiable. I never mull it over or ask myself “do I want to work out today”? As NIKE says, “just do it”! I KNOW I will feel better when the work out is done, so I don’t waste time, I lace up my sneakers or roll out a mat and I get going!
The motivation to do it, should be staying healthy & boosting immunity (especially important right now, more than ever!)…bonus side effects include; exercise releases “feel good” endorphins, reduces stress, increases energy, improves sleep, increases lean muscle mass, decreases body fat% and regular exercise is good for your heart and decreases the likelihood of chronic diseases, such as: Type II Diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, obesity and even cancer! IF THAT isn’t motivating enough, I don’t know what else to say!
SET YOURSELF UP FOR SUCCESS- Lay out your clothes the night before, have a plan (check out my YouTube channel for ideas), ignore the devil on your shoulder that talks to you about forgetting the workout, and tells you the couch and fridge are instead calling your name. Make it non-negotiable! Look at this next stretch of unknown length of time at home to let a good habit take hold.
Imagine if you committed right now and started today and set the short term goal of doing any form of physical exercise 3 days a week for the first 3 weeks! That’s only 9 workouts! BUT, those 9 workouts can change your life!
